Some theories on Orkut ...

Is it possible that Orkut could be a CIA funded initiative to capture every minute details of your personal life ? A proposal such as this would never be able to gain any political/public traction & hence the best way to go about implementing a national/international database that captures all your personal details is to call it a networking community.
All one has to do is to check your profile/friends/communities/scrap to see if you pose a significant risk to the US or any other country. Also consider the fact that although Orkut was conceived at Stanford University it never really became popular within the US as much as it did outside of it. So what say ? Is something like this possible ?

Traveling around Europe...

I am getting desperate to travel to some exotic locales. Last week I was looking at some options to travel around Europe without using the Eurail. I found two interesting one's in Eurolines and Busabout both of whom use Buses to take you around Europe. The best part of-course is there's no min/max period in which you need to complete your trip unlike Eurail. You can stay in any city as long as you want and again get back on the Bus to another city. I find this a better option than using the Eurail which in my opinion is expensive as well as very restrictive.
So I guess only thing that needs to be taken care of is getting a month off at work and probably about $2000 in cash (The Hardest Part). I'am just hoping it works out sometime soon.

Quotes from Garcia ..

So just finished with "Memory of my Melancholy Whores" by Garcia. Was a pretty easy read which I think is unlike most of Garcia's works. The book offers perspectives on love and being in love from the point of view of a 90 year old man. Some interesting quotes from the book ...

"I never had intimate friends and few who came close are in New York. By which I mean they're dead, because that's where I suppose condemned souls go in order not to endure the truth of their past lives."

"Whenever someone asks I always answer with the truth: whores left me no time to be married."

"Age isn't how old you are but how old you feel."

"Sex is the consolotation you have when you can't have love."

"I'm serious, she concluded , speaking from the heart. Don't let yourself die without the knowing the wonder of f***'ing with love."

PS:- BTW I didn't like U2 and liked only a few numbers of Ray Charles.

Blogspot back on...

I am able to access Blogspot again and looks like DOT has finally woken up and fixed the problem of blocking the whole domain instead of specific sub-domains. Anyways I know what censorship feels like now. I just hope it doesn't happen again - either deliberate or un-intentional.

Some more books to read .....

Bought some more books yesterday although I am yet to finish a lot of my previous purchases.... So I have in my shelf now - Memory of my Melancholy Whores (Gabriel Garcia Marquez) & Creativity: Flow and the Psychology of Discovery and Invention(Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi). Always wanted to read Marquez and I shouldn't have any trouble finishing this as it's just 100 odd pages long. In contrast I gave up reading 100 years of Solitude after a few pages. Found it too boring ; maybe it was the English translation !!! Also looking forward to read the thoughts of Mihali C....who is supposed to be some kind of thought leader in the area of creativity and how to achieve that in your work/life. You can read a review of the book here .
Also bought some music after a long time. Trying out Ray Charles and U2 for the first time. Lets see if I like them.
