Yeah...I mean that. The trouble with Indian cricket is with the Senior players who take their place in the team for granted, leaving no room for some talented youngsters to come in. I am sure these guys contributed a lot to the game and scored prolifically at one time but that isn't reason enough to stay in the team forever right ? Look at how the Australians treat players who are past their prime ? Give them their farewell test and that's it - end of story. Not sure why it should be any different out here in India ?
Let's look at the corporate world where a similar scenario exists. Some guy has an experience of 15 years & he is automatically treated as GOD even though he might be doing the same thing year after year for the past 15 years. Ever see someone with
4-5 years experience heading something substantative in any of the Indian IT companies or MNC's ? No way, it's always got to be somebody with tons and tons of experience although he might have done the same thing year after year. So in a sense it's really a flat world out there unless you work for an Indian IT company (then it somehow becomes a hierarchial world.)
It all seems to boil down to protecting their respective turfs irrespective of the collective outcome achieved. Seems to be pretty much the same story whether it's Indian Cricket or an Indian Corporate.
